The South African Sugar Association (SASA) provides a diverse range of highly specialised services to the South African sugar industry and our activities are funded in the main by the sugarcane growers and sugar milling companies. Our mission is to provide specialist services that enhance the profitability, global competitiveness and sustainability of the South African sugar industry. We do this through the work of a number of our divisions including the SASA Sugarcane Research Institute (SASRI), the Shukela Training Centre, Cane Testing Service, National and International Marketing including the Sugar Terminal at Maydon Wharf, Industry Affairs, Finance and External Affairs. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Key responsibilities include:


· Prepare and co-ordinate the annual budget for Health, Safety and Maintenance function in accordance with SASA Policies. · Facilitate Health, Safety and Maintenance variance notes input into STC Monthly Management Reports and budget reviews· Plan the Health and Safety Programmes in accordance with SASA’s policy framework and legislative provisions· Develop and oversee the application of various procedures, systems and standards that are relevant to the Health and Safety function· Oversee and control conformance with the legislative provisions related to occupational health in the workplace· Implement and control safety compliance standards associated with machinery, equipment, plant and persons at the workplace· Plan the STC Maintenance initiatives in accordance with SASA’s Policies and Budget Guidelines· Disseminate information or, advice and suggest with regards to the processes and requirements associated with the Health, Safety and Maintenance function· Manage the update, verification, consolidation and submission of activity related procedural and transactional information by:


The successful candidate must be passionate about health, safety and maintenance and meet the following requirements:


  • a minimum of a National Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health and Safety Management
  • 5 years industry work experience;
  • 1 year management experience;
  • computer literacy in MS Office;
  • in possession of a Driver’s License
