Introduction
Murray & Roberts Cementation invites suitably qualified candidates to apply for the position of Shaftman Grade 1 to be placed in Venetia Project, near Alldays The successful candidate will report to the Shaftman Grade 3 . The company will provide remuneration and benefits relevant and appropriate to the position. Preference will be given to Historically Disadvantaged South African (HDSA) candidates. Job description
The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:
- Safe operation of the stage
- Conducting all assigned work in a satisfactory and competent manner
- Ensuring the safety of the employees under his/her control
- Complying with the Health and Safety policy and practices of the company
- Proactively report shortages to ensure availability of materials / equipment to do the work.
- Plan measure and monitor work performance requirements within allowable cost parameters.
- Be alert and proactive in identifying and communicating equipment deficiencies, problems.
- Be alert and proactive in hazard identifications
- Perform risk assessments prior to commencing work and escalate risks identified

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
Minimum requirements
Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:
- Grade 12 or NQF equivalent Matric
- Onsetters Certificate of Competency
- Drill Rig Operator Certificate of Competency
- Good communication skills in English
Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:
- At least 1 year’ mining
- Previous working experience as a Stagehand
- Working in an underground mining environment
- Shaft sinking, equipping and construction experience
- Knowledge of Shaft Concrete Lining, Bank Operation, Concrete Related Work, Batch Plant, Wet Crete Applications, Civil Construction
